In rubber vulcanization, all substances that can accelerate the reaction rate between rubber and vulcanizing agent are collectively called rubber various accelerator masterbatches. Promoter plays a very important role in rubber vulcanization, adding a small amount of accelerator can greatly accelerate the reaction between rubber and vulcanizing agent, improve the speed of vulcanization, reduce the vulcanization temperature, shorten the vulcanization time, reduce the amount of vulcanizing agent, improve the physical and mechanical properties of vulcanized rubber, such as improving the tensile strength, tensile strength, wear resistance and hardness, etc., improve the aging resistance of vulcanized rubber, can prevent spraying frost, expand the range of use of vulcanized rubber, can make transparent and color rubber products. Vulcanized rubber can be used to expand the range of transparent and various colors of rubber products. Therefore, the accelerator has been one of the essential raw materials for rubber industry.

Promoters can be divided into two categories: inorganic substances and organic substances. Inorganic accelerators have been discovered for more than a hundred years, but because of the low efficiency and poor performance of vulcanized rubber, in addition to a small number of individual cases, has been replaced by organic accelerators, inorganic accelerators in zinc oxide, magnesium oxide, calcium oxide, alkali carbonate, etc. are now used as organic accelerators of active agents.

Due to the high efficiency of organic accelerators, good vulcanization characteristics, physical and mechanical properties of vulcanized rubber, and excellent aging properties, so that such accelerators have been rapidly developed. At present, there are more than one hundred kinds of commercialized ones, and only fifty to sixty kinds are commonly used.

According to the chemical structure, they can be divided into dithiocarbamates, xanthates, thiazoles, secondary sulfonamides, aldehydes, guanidines, thioureas, amines, etc. The size of the promotion effect of the accelerator can be divided into super accelerator, medium super accelerator, medium speed accelerator, weak accelerator four kinds.

Due to the different types of rubber, the same accelerator for different rubber vulcanization promotion effects is not the same. Natural rubber and most general synthetic rubber (such as styrene-butadiene rubber, butadiene rubber, and isoamyl rubber), generally belong to the super accelerator are dithiocarbophosphate, xanthate, and thiuram type accelerator; belong to the medium super accelerator are thiazole type, secondary sulfonamide type and part of the aldehyde amine accelerator; medium speed accelerator is thiourea, guanidine, and part of the aldehyde amine accelerator; weak accelerator is amine and part of the aldehyde amine accelerator.
